With the motor unbolted, you can move the cables with a big screwdriver through the opening for the gear. It's been a while, but I think the front cable is the right side, rear cable left. With the roof in the closed position, stick a big screwdriver in the hole for the motor gear, catch the ribs in the cable you want to move, and gently twist a little at a time till the selector gates are where you want them. I havent looked at the faq, but there are index marks on the selector gates that are to be lined up with a pin from the cable assy. Hard to describe, and hard to find the index marks. A good flashlight helps.
