High NOx is usually a result of lean running. I'd look for vacuum leaks - make sure all those little hoses are in good shape. If the O2 sensor is original, it probably needs replacing, but test it out at least. Clean flame trap, clean or replace cap, rotor & plugs. You may be able to plug the vacuum line to your ignition control module and run the mild default timing adavnce curve as well, to minimize NOx. Warm the car up for a good while before going to the testing center - a hot motor is a lot cleaner than a cold one.
