Shifter tightness - or lack there of 1800

When I bought my '67 it was missing that little nylon bushing. Driving it without was a PAIN! Loose and sloppy, reverse nearly impossible... The new bushing wasn't all that thick, but what a difference- it feels very nice now. I could see how if one was to wear out a bit, the shifting could start to get pretty loose. It's a two buck piece (may be easy to find? but mine was from Don Thibault in Mass.) that takes 5 minutes to install anyway...
