I'm dealing with the same issue presently. I want to get the A/C working again, and am trying to figure out if it's just the clutch, or the compressor itself that has problems.
Anyway, if you don't need the air conditioning, you can get an A/C bypass kit to run the power steering pump directly off the crankshaft (it's a longer belt and a spacer to position the PS pulley in line with the A/C belt pulley. IPD has it for $39.95... they describe it as being for '78 - '84 models, but it seems like it should be for any where the power steering pump runs off the compressor. Anyone know for sure?
While (if?) I have readers' attention on A/C issues -- can someone give me details on removing the clutch from the A/C compressor? (like what size screw to use as an extractor, etc.)
