'89 didn't have error codes any other suggestions? n/p 700 1989

Apparently the '89 B230FT didn't have the hardware to collect and store error codes. I think it came about on the '90 and later models. From what I've heard the '89 was a strange year with the turbo equiped cars since there were some things that took a year or two to switch - like the '89 turbos using a Hall sensor instead of a crank sensor, while other normally aspirated '89s used the crank sensor.
