Hi level means just that. no low level is getting through. Is the setting on the amp? Is the sub is the correct box? I have a super cheap 300 watt amp to one Orion extreme 12" sub in the correct box running bridged low level and it may be too much bass for a 20 year old car. Depending on what options that amp has, you may be better off running the 6x9 off the radio and the sub off the amp. Get some caps in line with the 6x9 to prevent any bass going though them.
