How to get the car to shut off lights on shutting down engine

I have a 1984 244 and a 1988 244 wifemobile. Both have than feature and we like it. The post about the relay is correct.

The relay is wired in so that the power from the battery to the hi/low stepping relay must flow through the contacts. The contacts close only when the key is in position I or II, and the headlight switch is in headlight position.

There is no "protection" if you leave the parking lights on with the key out. BTDT.

On the hi/low relay is a yellow wire from terminal #56. That wire must come from the ignition-controlled relay rather than direct from the battery.

Someone who has the Volvo Wiring Diagrams AND the ability to scan the diagrams in can help you out.

Good Luck,

Bob
