Fluid level 200 1984

Try overfilling your transmission by 1/2 quart and see if the situation changes (it probably won't), but it will rule out a possible fluid level issue. Depending on the vehicle, I sometimes run 1/2 quart overfilled for peace of mind (and the little extra shouldn't hurt anything). If you're overfilled by a quart or more, you might get some issues with foaming, and that can produce a variety of symptoms.

If it were my vehicle, after ruling out fluid level, I would consider watching the driveline while in motion (rear wheels elevated and the car in 'Drive'). Always support your vehicle on jackstands at suitable points and chock the non-raised wheels.

God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
