Electrical Gremlins 700 1987

Pete, I agree with Greg from Mn. I was messing around with my instrument cluster last week taking it out to replace the highbeam indicator bulb. I too am from Mn. In order not to freeze to death while working on ot in sub-0 weather I had the car running. Stupid! I replace the bulb and that worked fine but I lost all my gauges and was experiencing many of the symptoms that your describing. Yesterday, I removed the cluster for the one last time before tossing it. I took a meter and noticed that the three prong connector underneath the speedometer positive lead didn't have continuity but the bother two did. With closer observation I noticed that one of the very small wires above it had burnt out. I resodered it and wala! Everything works the way it should. I would try what Greg recommended and if that didn't work I would try putting another cluster in. The are easy to find on ebay and relatively cheap.

Good Luck Buddy

Rich from Mn.
