I recently had a problem similar to this. On a brand new fresh battery everything worked fine. After about 3 weeks the CD would skip and eventually not even accept a CD. It turned out there was a short in the radio and I had to replace the radio. I trust that when you entered the code the radio worked fine. If that is the case and you can't get the player to accept the CD it means the unit is not receiving enough juice from the battery to make the CD player work properly.
