Non Volvo lack of stearing stability question.

"Being used to it" is a very real phenomena when my motorcycle failed inspection because of the bushing in the fork being bad the mechanic said it is rare that anyone notices because it happens slowly and you adapt to it.

on the camery my first move would be tires and front end aligenment, I think the tire wear on the out side edges is a symptom and not the cause, I would check ball joints and tie rod ends as well. Allthough unevenly worn tires will cause some strange handling problems, something caused them to get that way in the first place.
