Have you replaced the fuel pump relay? I wouldnt go powering the pump in the tank. Use a test light at the connector. I would hate to see you hit the wrong wire and blow up OUCH. Bump the key and listen for a click behind the ashtray when the car is in its running mode and when its not running listen again and see if you hear the audible click from the relay.
