Unless it is fuel compatible (flouro)-silicon it would be totally unsuitable, and never seal, but I recomemnd against anything but the correct o-ring(!)....that's the best thing to use...I seem to recall we had this same issue very recently so search around...my advise then, and now, is to use the correct square section o-ring, but I've carefully cut them out of a piecs of FUEL LINE of the appropriate ID (3/16"?).

The ignition parts were probably a waste of money...fix your fuel delivery!!
