A/C conversion HELP NEEDED! 700

I can imagine the collective grimmace when reading what I am about to say, BUT...

I have had my 1991 740 for several years now and when I got it, there was no R12 left in the system. I simply bought some 134a and sealant and pumped it in (took my chances) and it worked. Every two years or so I refresh the system with a 6oz can of 134a and it blows VERY cold. I have had no problems with the system at all. Maybe all you need is a can or two of 134a? Cheaper than $500 and what have you got to lose since your system will hold 200 psi, far higher than 134a needs.
