loss of vacuum ?-> no ignition

Thank you very much! I was very much wondering if I had the fuel system/ignition relationship backward, as it had been explained to me that the fuel relay would halt ignition if it were malfunctioning, rather than the other way around-- and now I realize that the mechanic had oversimplified that explanation. I really only meant to convey that the relay and pumps do work during the pressurizing "on" stage, and weren't completely blown by the lack of fuel return. Hypothetically, they should do what they are supposed to, everything else being equal to the task (?). Which brings me to ignition: no spark, and no low voltage on the coil. My question is if there is a forseeable effect of my fuel problem on an ignition component resulting in no spark/no start. I don't have enough experience to sort out the meaningful clues from the rest to post, so I just wanted to start from the other end, that being that the cause is definately a vacuum leak at the FPR. Is this logical? The only reason why I mention FI is that if there was no commonality with ignition, I would have to assume that a second problem occurred simultaneously in the ignition. I can always check and re-check everything, but I didn't want to miss something obvious. So, I'm going to check that ground, and re-re-recheck the spark. Thank you for your excellent clarification. --Stuart Baker
