tranny install... 140-160

Congratulations Andrew!!!

Regarding the transmission... that is good enough advice. I personally wouldn't bother with the rear seal unless it is known to be bad. I also wouldn't do the transmission top gasket, but if you can find one easily, and its cheap, sure...go for it. If not, and you have to swap tops, the old gasket and some sealant should be fine. THe pilot bearing is cheap insurance and can be removed with the flywheel in place. You'd probably do well to stick in a complete clutch kit though... considering the drag race history :-)

Couple other minor things to not forget... disconnect the throttle linkage before you start. Otherwise you'll bend it when you lower the engine/transmission unit. Remove the gear lever before you drop the engine as well... it'll hang on the tunnel. Have the transmission(s) in nuetral before you pull the gearlever. Easier to get in that way.

When you put the new transmission back in, be sure to have the top starter bolt in through the bellhousing before you stab the transmission in place. YOu'll see why when you pull the transmission. Of course, that one only applies if you are removing and installing the transmission with the bellhousing.

Good luck with it!
-Matt
