My car started OK, but had an intermittent miss that I couldn't diagnose. Since my speed sensor was one of the early ones that everybody says will eventually fail anyway, I decided to replace it. Since I haven't yet done the replacement properly (just stuck it in place to get the car running to put it on ramps to lower the trans to replace the @#$%^&& bracket I broke) I can't tell you yet whether or not the new sensor fixed the problem.
