...would be the the ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) sensor, which may be telling the ECU that it's -35° outside. Testing procedure is in the 700/900 FAQ (same engine as 240).
The ECT is not easy to access for checking or replacing. An Ohmeter test is easier done from the ECU connecter. See FAQ
Running really rich, you won't affect the O2 sensor with the AMM pot, which I believe is basically there to "trim" mixtures that are already in the ballpark.
See if you can "force" the ECU to go Lean, as suggested below. If not, I'd suspect the ECT even more.
