That may be completely true, but it's not truly complete. The weld between a mig and am Oxy-acetylene setup is substantially different. The weld that results from mig welding is much harder than the oxy-accetylene. It can therefore not be worked to any significant degree. The gas weld however is soft, and can be panel beaten back into shape after welding.

The gas weld gives an ultimately more distortion free weld, but also requires a skill level that is in no way comparable to the mig.
