headlight switch 200 1984

I would like to get my headlights on my 1984 245 to act more like the lights on my 1989 240 whereas they turn on and off with the ignition if the headlight switch is on. Do i need to buy a newer headlight switch for the 1984 or is there some way to achieve this with the existing setup. Has anyone done this before?
