Hello All:
1967 122S Wagon. The previous owner (a drag racer, so he knows his stuff) told me he always puts in hi-octane gasoline. My friend Steve, a brilliant mechanical engineer who knows his chemistry (and a fine road racer to boot) says "nonsense, unless this is a very high-compression engine." We checked the manual that came with the car (sweet!) and I do not recall the exact number but I want to say it was maybe 8.7:1. At any rate he said it was nowhere near the threshold requiring hi-test.
Which man is right? Some people in this forum have said they get better gas mileage from hi-test but Steve says it is impossible. He suggested I go on here and see what people have to say.
Cheers,
Jeff Pucillo
