Hmmmmmmmmm.........
Seems to me that the responses are very one sided.
how about looking at it from the other guy's viewpoint??
".............
.............
............
..............."
OK - not much there to say -
so the tally so far is - manners are nice - rudeness is not nice.
Jon - one thing I have learned over the years - crow is not that bad if eaten while very fresh!!!
Many writers here have identified with your frustrations - however no one has sided with your rude outburst.
And as far as your premise that the entire thing should be dealt with outside the brickboard -
- I remember hearing a quote "never whisper in secret what you would not want shouted from the rooftops."
This is a community - most of us have a great affinity to this board - and the people that visit and post here -
We welcome newbies -and marvel at the wisdom, experience, and wit of the veterans. And then there are those of us who while by no means newbies - still are not the old sages that were here when we newbied onto the scene....
Another thing I have learned - by and large - Volvo owners are a most peculiar lot - accepting, patient, polite, forgiving - all the attributes one would possess, simply to keep a Volvo in the Drive.
You may be very surprised to see how accepting of a simple "I'm sorry." most people are. We all have ben frustrated - we all have shot off at the lip - maybe to different degrees -
- and some of us have eaten crow on occasion - a few of us loose lipped ones - having possibly acquired a taste for it (albeit grudgingly) ....... :|
So Jon - while the rest of us here may seem to be lined up "agin" you - know very well - we are not lining up on either side.
We may not be choosing sides - but we are entitled to our opinion.
It was not the situation that was wrong - it was the offensive reaction I find exception with. What positive action has your tirade produced? (what are the fruits of your actions?)
Let's look at your situation......
Is this the first time you have been sniped?
Do you think it will be the last?
Have you "never" sniped anyone - ever??
In the future - a sure fire way to avoid sniping - head down to your parts store and pay full retail...... - no sniping to worry about there.
I do hope your blood pressure drops enough by Christmas so that you can enjoy the wonderful season with family and friends...
Byron - thank you for bringing this to the attention of the community. You may win the monthly "most responses to a posting" award.
(Jared - jsut another idea for consideration...)
......and Byron - your understanding that one bid won does not a lifetime make or break - you are to be commended.
Just a question - have you talked with a foam or auto upholstery shop about rebuilding the existing seat ??
Many of them are experienced with Volvo and understand the Volvo concept of seat suspension/fabric/foam interaction, etc.
One shop in the city I live in does seats for everything from Big Rigs to rice-burners - everytime I have been in the shop - there are seats lined up.
I had my 94 Caddy driver's seat rebuilt there (apparently the Mary Kay lady was no small piece of work)
and for $150 CDN the inner support was rebuilt - foam in the seat and back were replaced -and I can drive that cruiser for many hours without a back ache....
I suggest this - because being the owner of a couple of 240's - even good looking seats are rare now and finding one perfect is next to impossible.
15 years ago - 240 buckets were $25 each - now try $100 - and the seat is in way worse condition....
Funny how things change when they stop building cars that like to run forever.....
A most MERRY CHRISMAS TO ALL !!!!!!!
