900 series vs. 200 series. Any advice???

My '79 wagon was recently destroyed by a neighbor (hit me with a tree)! I am in the final stages of settling with his insurance. I am planning to get another Volvo wagon- but I'm caught between the later 245's and a 940 wagon. Are the 940's as reliable, especially in a crash? And what about the maintenence factor? Thanks ahead of time for your advice.
