'Floaty' Tach and intermittent stalling 700 1990

Thanks for the suggestion Greg. Last night I finished the Mitchell manual tests and checked out the Ignition ECU. The tests came out all right. So then I started thinking about the knock sensor. If it was faulty, it could be turning off the engine! I looked at it and there was some oil on it. So I pulled the plug, and there was oil on the connectors too. So I used some contact clearner on the plug and the sensor. Maybe it was "shorting" out and giving a false reading to the ECU and shutting down the engine?

I will drive it some more. The "occurrence" has only happened three times in the last three months - once for my wife, and the last two over the last 60 days for me!. It is my wife's car, mine is the 944T, and the 944T is getting "contaiminated" by our boys! I want my nice, clean car back, let them have the kid-taiminated wagon! :)

I started a new post about the tach. The tach issue seems to be un-related. It is acting flaky on it's own! Any ideas?
