You've really hit the problem on the head. The thing is the hole is not a hole as in later models but actually a small tunnel that the cylinder slips into. So far i have not tried to modify to adapt to the abundant available later models, but that may be the only alternative if these become so hard to find.
By the way, I normally do all the repair work I can do to this "city car" upstate in the Adirondacks in the summer. Where are you upstate and can you reccomend any pick and pulls north of Albany? I only have one in New Jersey and the pickings are becoming pretty slim.
