My b18 was overbored to 2 liter by the PO.

The wrist pin retaining clip seems to have popped loose and the pin was digging into the block. I think the block is good for a core or an anchor now. Not much meat left in those walls.
The PO did the work so i don't know the numbers but i bet the machine shop will charge a nice chunk to do the overbore. They have to take it out quite a bit.
As previously mentioned, you'd have to do something about the head and compression. Mine has a shaved b20f head with the injector ports plugged and dual SUs.
Saturday I picked up a b20 shortblock with 102k on the odometer for $50 +$15 core. Still has the crosshatch. I'm going to replace gaskets and seals and see how she works out until i have the money to do a full rebuild or swap in a b230ft.
I had to get the flywheel as well, the b18's and early b20's have a 6-bolt pattern on the end of the crank. Later model b20's have an 8-bolt.
I would leave it a b18 and rebuild as necessary or just find yourself a b20 as a starting point.
