Can you connect an external oil pressure gauge in the garage to verify that you have pressure?

The oil level is always quite a bit lower when the engine is warm. You added too much oil, and some of it made its way into the combustion chambers. I agree with Evan. This sounds like a problem with the gauge, the sender, or the wiring/tubing between the two.
