89 245 Solenoid Replacement

The solenoid is mounted on the driver's side of the transmission, forward top edge. If you remove it be sure to clean up the site before hand as you do not want any road grime to enter the opening- be very careful.

Are you sure it is the solenoid that is bad? More often it is the wiring either from the switch or to the solenoid, or many time a defective relay.

Can you hear the relay clicking when pushing the switch? Perhaps you need to listen carefully at the area to the left of the glove box (with the door open).

Is the light on the dash going on and off with the pushing of the switch?

Does the overdrive work at all? ie occasionally?

Randy
