Make friends with a roofer and ask him to sell you a few (3?) yards of the stuff. Throw in a six-pack -- roofers get thristy up there in the sun. The "Ice & Water Shield" I use is made by Grace. It is a sandwich about 3/32" thick, consisting of a plastic membrane; a layer of black, asphalt-like stuff that adheres to itself (and anything else) like mad; and waxed, no-stick paper to keep it from doing the former.
