Low speed is so low that it is hard to notice.
If the compressor is not coming on it's not the microswitch. With the rotary switch turned on to the edge of the red jump the 2 wires on top of the filter/dryer, they are attached to a low pressure switch on top. Odds are you are low on R-12 and the compressor will kick on when you jumper the wires. Don't leave it that way for long, it will hurt the compressor.
There is also a chance some of the wires got knocked loose behind the switches, have you done anything back there lately?
