The original compressors used for the 140s and probably early 240s were the notorious York compressors. While they worked well and are very durable (mine lasted 27 years, car is in the tropics), they tend to sap a lot of power from the engine. I finaly switched mine to a Sanden rotary unit after the York quit(broke the belt when it jammed up), with minor fabricating work to the compressor bracket. Much lighter on the car and interior is cooler. Oh yes, you might want to add an electric fan in front of the condensor to aid heat dispersion in stop and go traffic. Helps to keep the interior cooler. I just installed a 14 inch fan from a 87 Mercedes S280. Works like a charm.
