Sorry for not going to the effort to research the prices on this stuff but is the Scan Tech or the MTC really that much cheaper than a factory bushing and seal? I hang these parts all of the time and I do not even consider using wildcat parts. I cannot tell you how good or bad the MTC is but Scan Tech stuff can be pretty iffy at times.
As far as doing it yourself at home, absolutely. I drive the bushing out with a simple hammer and punch and put it back in with a wheel bearing race driver set. Just make sure that whatever you use to drive it back in with is soft like aluminum or even a wooden dowel. The real pain in the ass comes along when you break the gasket on the housing. If you are good or lucky you can pop it apart and not break that gasket and then just re-use it. If you break it you are forced to scrape that hard as a rock gasket off of there and it is a very narrow gasket on a thin aluminum surface so you have to really take your time so as not to destroy that surface. I of course have the Volvo special tool for driving in the rear seal but I have no doubts that it could be done without it. Just take your time, make sure you orient the hole in the bushing at the top of the housing, and try not to break that gasket.
Good Luck,
Mark
