who has experience with electric cooling fan instead of engine driven fan. 120-130

Can't stop tinkering. I am interested in using a thermostatically controlled electric fan. I know I will need to plumb into the cooling sysytem.

I am wondering whether I should use the top tube or the bottom tube of the rad for the sensor.?

At what temp should it kick in?

Looking to get a little more milage, little less noise and maybe a horse or two.

Thanks for any and all input.
