05 V70 REAR UPPER MOTOR MOUNT REPLACEMENT

I recently purchased a V70 2.5T. It has 50K on it. The rear upper motor mount is bad and causing vibration at idle. Is this common for this vehicle? How difficult is it to replace? Do you need to use a floor jack to maintain bolt alignment? I am quite familiar with RWD Volvos and have only had to replace one motor mount on my 960 at 200K. My 240 has 320K and has original mounts. Any guidance would be most appreciated.

50K is a bit premature, but the mount does need to be replaced. It is not easy to press OEM mounts into place, so most of us with 5cyl engines opt for the poly mount from IPD which will last forever and are easier to install. The poly mount does tranfer a small amount of vibration to the steering wheel, but I like knowing when the engine is not smooth as silk.

I would place a jack under the pan, just in case the forward mount has also broken - usually at about 125K. Just enough jack to support the engine, 1/4 inch?

I can't really guide you very much other than to recommend you post this in the AWD / FWD, V70 forum. You'll probably get more action there.

320K on original mounts on your 240? I'd change them too.
