Factory tach only works for 1 to 2 seconds after startup. 245/LS1

The factory Volvo tach in my 1975 Volvo/LS1 only works for a second or two after the engine is started then it does not work anymore until I start the car the next time. I am using a Baker Electronix VATS module. Don't know if this has anything to do with it.
