California V8 Swap info

My wife's 83 240 wagon is on its very last legs. This car has been in her family since new and I can't get her to "let it go". After this last breakdown (yesterday) I told her we need to non-op it or swap something fun into it as it just isnt worth getting the motor / trans rebuilt or swapped with another 4 banger. I've been researching the v8 swap for a few days now but unfortunately, we don't have the space nor the tools to attempt to do this ourselves. On top of that, we're in california so getting the car smogged would be a pain point. I used to work on Hondas and Subarus so I know you can swap a motor as long as the emissions etc are all there and the motor is newer than the car. I guess my question would be more geared toward getting help locally. Would be looking for a shop or something here that could perform most of what I need. Anyone have any ideas?
