few questions on engines

ive been looking around alot for engines. for me, its either a 383 SBC, the ZZ4, or the 5.0L ford engine. im looking for good stock power at a decent price, and am wondering which would be the engine for me. the 383's knock out about 300? ZZ4 at 355, what would a 5.0L out of a late 80's GT mustang be kicking? there is a GT near me sitting in a guy's front yard, and if its worth it i might go check it out.
any input?
