Lost radio code, Help 850

Hi,just replaced my battery and I seem to have misplaced the radio code on
my 94 850. I don't go to any dealer on a regular basis so I am not sure
if I can obtain the code from them.
Any help on where I could get the code would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Burt Bradley

I think you are stuck with going to a Volvo dealer. Good news is I have 2 850s and went to different dealers with each to ask things like radio codes and how to program key fobs. Both dealers helped at no cost... so depends on dealer. Not all are total rip-offs and some realized the value of customer relations.

As for my codes I have written on the top of the radio, in the owners manual and in a file folder I keep related paper work in. You can easily pull radio out to see if previous owner might have done same with yours .

    Good Luck

    Hi Burt,
    Try this...
Your radio is probably an SC-810.
    code in - 25X5.
The "X" will be digit 0 thru 9, so you may have to go through
the 3 hour wait a few times.
    My last 2 SC-810's were 2525 and 2565.
I sent this tip to a fellow brickhead this past summer and it worked
    for him.
    Good luck!

Go to the dealer. Bring cash.

Shouldn't cost you a dime if you bring your title and prove ownership of your car to the dealer. I've done this twice now with different cars and never had an issue or paid $$.

On our 850 wagon, the code is written in yellow on the inside of the rear lift door on the drivers side. Appears to have been written there at the factory. Discovered it by accident when changing a tail light bulb. Was beside the weather tripping. Might pay to take a look around the trunk or lift gate if a wagon. Look on the car body, not trunk lid.

Sounds crazy but a lot of people write them on the radio themselves with a sharpie...pull the radio out and see if it's there, especially if you bought the car used.

Thanks for all your help. I pulled the radio, no code. Guess I will be going
to the dealer. I bought the car used I think the radio was updated to an
          SC 811 at some point.
          Thanks again.
