flushed tranny, now it slips.

Hey Everyone,
I flushed my transmission using the method from bay 13 as I have always done in the past. The fluid is new and the level is correct. The car starts off really slow when its cold and after a hard brake it doesn't go right into gear when pressing the gas, it slips a little then engages the gear. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I really don't want to do this tranny.

Thanks,
Steve

Get the tranny fluid nice and hot and check the level again. What year is it? Model? Did you use Dextron III or synthetic? You may have a bubble of air in the converter if you pumped too much out before adding 2 quarts. Symptoms could be from being over full?

Sounds like you "drained" a gear out of it. I've seen it done in other transmissions where the crud that was in the transmission was helping it stay in gear. Your flush got rid of that crud and now your transmission is slipping. Now then, you could pour sand in the transmission to rough up the disks but I'm guessing no manufacturer has ever recommended this. What guys have done is pour a little DOT 3 brake fluid in their tranny which breaks down the friction disks and helps it grab. Once you do this there's no going back. If it ever slips again, you're rebuilding a transmission. Good luck!
