Ignition Switch Problems S70 1998

My wife's car, 100k miles. When you gotto turn the key to start it, sometimes it will mechanically "bind-up" afraid that I'm going to break the key off one day or that it (the mechanical part of the switcha) just will break.

Any suggestions?

    When you say bind up, do you mean that it is hard to move the key to start? Or just hard to get to position one because you have to wiggle the steering wheel? If it is not the steering wheel, then it could be the ignition switch, which is behind the key lock. Easy to replace, one you get the plastic clamshell off the steering column.

      Have even heard of keys rotating around and around and around once the ignition switch is broken. Known issue...this poorly designed ignition switch. Should be able to order a new one from fcpgroton.com Just call them and tell them what you need.
