I had a 1999 V70 that did the same thing from late 2000 until we traded it in late 2004. Did it occasionally, but never got any worse. Dealer never found any codes. I, and the dealer, felt it was a touchy ABS unit. They would have replaced it if it went out or threw a code.

By the way. We traded it in on a Honda Odyssey. Had the thing for almost two years and several things have gone out. The master window control, the power seat, several bulbs have gone out, and one of the rear seat belts has a problem cinching up. They also did a recall on the transmission. Not any better than the 1999 S70 AWD I have had for the same period, and I bought the S70 with 80,000 miles on it. In fact the S70 has only had a few minor things.

If it pulls to one side when you initially apply the brakes, then I would suggest you remove the slides and lube them with brake grease. Or it could be a sticky caliper, but that doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you are braking hard it's your ABS kicking in. If you aren't braking hard and this is happening, you need to have your braking system looked at.
