New 6 cylinder in the XC90

Anyone heard any pros and cons about the new, non-turbo 6 cylinder they've dropped into the 2007 XC90? Has it been out in use in Europe for any time?
It seems they get stuff like that before we here in the US do. I'm thinking of one of the new ones, but if the "proven" 2006 model's engine is better, then I'd wait for a model clearance deal.

Thanks for any input.

Isn't that the V6 used by Ford? Most Europeans opt for the diesel engine, which we don't get, or smaller displacement engines.
The V8 for the XC90 is the same engine used in the Taurus SHO. I don't know if Europeans even want something as large as the XC90. Sport utes don't go over big there. They can't afford the taxes on weight and CCs.

No, seems to be the new inline six also in the new S80. Try a google search or the Volvo website. It apparent claim to fame is short length for a straight six - all the auxilliary stuff is tucked away in unorthodox places - which could create some serviceabilty issues.

Was at the dealer today and heard some service techs complaining that the new '07 S80 has the alternator under the intake manifold...go figure. It's sort of like the cartoon below.
