hey everybody, believe it or not all these things happened within a few hours (after i had been having some intermitent problems in the past. am i officially screwed?

just changed the PNC switch. please help or soon this will be going to part heaven.

sounds like limp home mode. when this happened to me it was the pnp switch.
exact same symptoms. you say u just changed the pnc switch (pnp?). i would first recheck the switch that you installed. do you get a 313 code from the A1 socket? sorry to say, but your pnp switch install might have toasted your tranny. (see http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/pnpswitch2.htm) hope it is a simple fix and not at new tranny.

Sounds like it is in limp home mode, which often means time for last rites.

Sounds like you are screwed, but could you PLEASE enlighten us a bit more? Like: What year? How many miles? When did you replace the PNP? Any codes from the A1 box? Are you really in 2nd or 3rd? Is the arrow flashing? Who replaced your PNP switch? Do you have backup lights? Is there tranny fluid on the dip stick, if so, what color? Any noises when you move the shifter?

sorry, the blind rage of yet another problem with my beloved volvo got in the way of thinking properly, lol
(this is my second one)

1995 T5-R wagon, 186k on it. replaced the PNP switch myself, yes, have backup lights, tranny fluid is a little dingy, stalls when i put it in drive from park, no noises coming from the shifter.

think its second because the i redline around 45mph. also there is no engine braking at all!???

Rule308 also reccomends you save the PNP switch for your new tranny.

Was it the way that the new PNP switch was installed that killed the transmission? I'm getting ready to put a new PNP switch in my '97. I read the volvospeed instructions and I have access to the dealer tool to align the switch.

I'm just curious to find out why his transmission died.

i am on my way to the auction this weekend to get a new set of wheels unfortunately i cant afford to keep a volvo going these days!
