code P0422 only in a wet weather S70

First thing first, Happy new year everyone!

About a month ago, I have been treated to a check engine sign and a code P0422. It was raining that day. I got worried and took the car to my mechanic (a generalist). He told me to replace the coverter. Next day the rain stopped an the check engine "went away" along with the fault code.
Recently, it was raining for two days, I got the code, which went away after the rain stopped, just like before.
Anybody has any ideas what might be the cause of this rainy weather problem? Volvo dealers in NYC area are expensive and not very good. They would probably make me replace the whole fuel and exsaust system.
Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Probably a short in the wiring to the rear O2 sensor.

Thank you for your reply. Do you think that changing rear (after catalytic) oxygen censor will solve the problem?

It's possible that changine the O2 sensor will fix the problem, but I hate to throw parts at a car while praying. Just follow the wires for both O2 sensors and look for possible chaffing first.
