How do I disable the Auto Lock Feature? Not one of my favorite features... If I want to lock the doors, I will..... On this '95 I just purchased the feature seems worse then normal, once the car starts the locks doors lock... From other cars like my XC70, it's not until aleast you start driving.... I alsmost lock my self out while detailing my new addition

Also, the car came with only one key, is it possible to get a remote door lock?

    It sounds like there is an aftermarket alarm on the car, ya know>

    850s never had an auto lock feature. The manual says to never lock the car while driving, because if an accident occurs the emergency responders will not be able to open the doors!
    You do not have a remote, so unlock the car with the key, twice, in succession. That will disable the alarm system. You should not have to do it again.
    There is a feature of the alarm system on my 1998, that if you unlock only the driver's door and then close the door, it will lock itself in 60 seconds.
    As for getting a new remote, check Ebay, but make sure it is for a 1995. The manual also describs how to program it. Get an extra key from the dealer, he will use the VIN to cut a new key.

      I agree I think it's unsafe. But, this '95 855 GLT will lock all doors 5 seconds after the ignition switch is switched on and when switched off they open. I tried your suggestion:

      1- using the key I locked the door

      2- then rotated the key couter clockwise to unlock doors

      3-- rotated the key counter clockwise once again

      Still locks doors once ignition is switched on??

        I believe the procedure Klaus was describing was to disable the alarm system, not the auto-locking. The only other Volvo I've ever come across that auto-locks is my mother's '94 960 --it locks when it's put into drive.

        On my Mini it's one of the features that only the dealer can program. I'd contact your local Volvo dealer and ask them if they can change it (and hope they know what you are talking about). For the Mini, the dealer is supposed to change that and other features for free for whoever owns the car. I would expect the same courtesy from Volvo.

        Good luck with getting it disabled. That would annoy the heck out of me.
