Problems with the trans axle 850 1993

I own a Volvo 850 1993, some week's ago the automatic transaxle present some problems going back, forward doesn't have any problem, but when you going back, you need to acelerate to 4000 rpm and them the gearbox connect and goes back. I have checked the diagnostic unit, and the code is 124, but it doesn't have problems with the selector mode swicth. The fluid is ok, red and smells good. Please help me, because i don't want to change the gearbox.

    I beg to differ. The 124 is a fault in mode selector switch, not the tranny. Try wiggling the gear shifter forward and back while in the R setting.
    BTW, the mode selector switch is not under the shift lever.
