It is time to replace the engine coolant in both the C70 and V70. With prior Volvos I have used both Volvo coolant and non-Volvo aluminum friendly coolant. What is the current wisdom of the group as to which to use?

    I picked up a gallon of coolant from the dealer ($30). The color changed from green to blue but I'm not sure if the blue is any different.

    I think you can use any long-life coolant if you thoroughly flush out the previous coolant, whatever its type.

    I have used Prestone and Peak on our FWD and RWD Volvo's with no problem. The genuine Volvo stuff is very expnsive but doubtfully better.

      I am very familiar with the 240 series. I now own a 2003 V70 2.4T. Is there a engine drain for coolant or some info on flushing coolant as to not make a mess? Regards..

        There is a drain on the underside of the radiator, driver side and one on the back or firewall side of the engine, more toward the passenger side. 13mm for both. You can put a plastic hose over the nipple to drain. As far as not making a mess, I don't know as that I usually do out outside after the coolant is captured. Then I flush and the flushings go where they want to.
