Third Seat Installation Instructions 850 1994

Anyone here have a copy that can be emailed or faxed???

Or, barring that, some BTDT instructions/advice?

I have what looks to be everything I need in a kit of parts I bought used (the seat-back latch was provided new). The seats came on the carpeted boards and all looks complete.

I have done a 245 third seat before and have reasonable mechanical skills.

I am mostly curious to know in advance if there are any holes that need to be cut/drilled anywhere (besides the small hole in the middle seat-back carpet for the latch), if there are any hidden gotchyas, and any other BTDT sage advice the group can offer on this. My wife and kids are chomping at the bit for me to get this thing installed...

TIA!

Re: Third Seat Installation Instructions 850 1994

Um...no instructions, but I've BTDT just recently. So, you can email me for questions. It took me about 4 hours along with some phone help from the guy from whom I bought it.

There are DEFINITELY lots of parts. Probably the best thing to do is to drop by a dealer and see if they've got one on the used lot you can gander at.

The one thing I had trouble with was installing the bezel that goes into the 2nd row seatback. You have to cut away much more carpet than I was initially comfortable doing; basically, if you can't see metal all the way around, then you need to cut more! Then, the thing just inserts, and you slide it up. When you slide it up, it locks into place. Now everything's groovy!

One thing to note is that since the seats are already attached to the boards, your installation is shortened (mine came that way, too). However, the lock that's in the rearmost section will no longer work unless you're just dumb lucky; you'll have to transplant that from the old one if you care (I didn't).

Good luck!

Re: Third Seat Installation Instructions 850 1994

Thank you for your help Chris! Got the third seat installed yesterday without much trouble. Your recent BTDT advice helped *a lot*! Thank you!

Now I'm wondering what to do with the carpeted boards, etc., I pulled. I wonder if there is a market for someone wanting to remove a third seat from their car due to lack of use?
