Vision Plus and E-code lenses...shazam! S70 98

What a combination - an awesome amount of light, and almost all of it on the road where it belongs.

Can you just replace the lenses without needing a new headlight housing??

I would love to up to E-Code!! I just received my Philips Blue Visions...will put them in on Sat.

Anyhow...part #'s please!! I will be looking to replace the lenses if you don't have to change the entire housing and reflectors!! YAY!

    TIA

    BadBUZz!

You can do just the lenses (less than 1/2 hr, 10mm socket on extension, screwdriver). Unfortunately, I've thrown away the boxes and don't have the part numbers. I paid $100 each, from Precision Volvo, 978.828.5512. That's an independent shop, parts are Volvo OE.

How about posting a close-up digital picture of the E-code lenses?

PS. Have have a 1999 Microfische that would have the part numbers.

      Re: Vision Plus and E-code lenses...shazam! C70 01

E-code (Euro) lenses can be installed separately. They distribute the light much differently than the US DOT specification. The most important characteristics are: illumination focused down on the road, a hard horizontal cutoff, and a little extra light high and to the right (to illuminate signs, joggers and roadside hazards). I paid $100 each for the lenses and changeout takes less than half an hour. Mine are Volvo OE. Read the FAQs at Daniel Stern's informative automotive lighting site, http://www.lighting.mbz.org

Every US driver struggles for better lighting, and the first modification I put into any car is the lighting. The Europeans are very active in the area of automotive lighting, and they do it better the US or Japanese automakers.

The lighting on the Euro Volvos is better than it is here (why can't we get the cornering lamps that come on with the turn signals here?!?).

Where did you get the Vision Plus bulbs?

Philips Vision Plus from http://www.autolamps-online.com ($40 for a pair plus a free spare, includes shipping), 50% more output.

E-code lenses I got from my independent Volvo tech (Tim Watkins, Precision Volvo, 978.948.7778, about $200/pair). The E-code (euro) lenses put that extra light where you want it - on the road (and out of the eyes of oncoming drivers). Read the faq's at Daniel Stern's excellent website devoted to automotive lighting: http://www.lighting.mbz.org.
