I'm scared about pulling out my heater hose o-rings cause I can't see much 850 1995

I did get this kit from the dealer:

http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/PartDetail.aspx?id=3545662

No o-rings came out when I removed the 2 heater hoses from the firewall.

It's hard to see what is in there , no wonder the new parts are yellow.

I did find this tip when doing a search:
and gently use a pick or similar to pull them out if retained in the heater core.

So I guess it's a matter of 'no gutts no glory'.

No guts, no glory 850 1995

If you use a small flashlight, it will help visibility. Just remember the sequence of the O rings as you take them out, quite important.

The location is a pain in the back :)

Put the o-rings and clips on the Hhose and and insert, or put o-rings in the firewall 1st? 850 1995

Thank you Klaus. The o-ring kit came with pictures - apparently things were redesigned so the car originally had 2 rubber rings, 2 plastic rings and a clip and now it has a thicker clip and only 1 plastic ring plus the 2 rubber rings.

It seems like I want to put these items on the heater hose steel shank and insert it. Or maybe I put these 4 items into the firewall 1st, and then insert the heater hose?

RUBBER RING, YELLOW RING, RUBBER RING, Clip.

Btw - I did extract these out by using an old fashion paint can opener, the kind with a little hook at the end.

THANKS - STEVE

Not having done this procedure, I would have inserted the new O rings first. They didn't come out when you pulled off the hose anyway, and that would assure me that they are back in the proper groove. Then put the plastic clip in the hose with the plastic washer, insert it into the firewall coupling and turn the clip.
Make sense?

Success - I just put it all on like a shichkebab and inserted cautiously. 850 1995

I replaced everything but the thermostat. No leaks seen yet after a 15 minute run in the garage (not legal yet). I was stunned when I shut the engine off and all the sudden the resevoir was empty. Yikes! It only took a little more coolant to bring it up to full though.

Always check the inside of the firewall for leaks, just to be on the safe side :)

The above is very good reading... Assemble, insert and turn.
